You need to Irrigate! – It’s hot out!
As of Sunday we in the Boston area have seen heat waves and drought like conditions for weeks. The last event, ending this past Saturday has left us with our lawns looking burnt up and stressed out.
Most turfs we are seeing are getting yellow and looking like they are dying. In most cases they are not “dying” (yet); they are going dormant. Lawns in our area consist of hardy local cool weather grasses that will be fine for now. Fescue and Rye for example will go dormant, turning yellow while it conserves its water.
When the grass starts to look “blue-grey” and not yellow anymore it is dying. Dying grass needs water immediately, saving what’s left!
At Dave’s Landscape, we install and maintain irrigation systems as well as aerate, seed and compost new lawns (if needed) in the Hudson – Metro West areas. Here are some sprinkler pictures for your enjoyment.
